My only (974) example is a 25mil (1980) manufacture. It doesn't have any of the reddish color metal, at all. Wish I could be more help to you.

Some Finn M39s have barrels with this same plum colored bluing.

Iirc, some suggested it was due to high nickel content or some other compositional characteristic of the metal

The safety on my Bulgarian makarov is the same color.

Yeah, I seem to recall a gunsmith I used to work for telling me something about nickel content causing that plum color look as well.

I have seen plum other guns just didn't remember seeing SKS's plum. But I do recall a few Yugos after GG made me think a little. I try not to think much anymore its a waste of time. Common sense and facts don't matter so why bother.
