Recently picked up a bundle of six cleaning rods, wrapped in oiled paper. The dimension of the tip is slightly, maybe 1mm larger than a Chinese rod. Any ideas on what (SKS?) these are supposed to fit?

Probably for a Mosin M44, hard to say without a pic. Also, when you say tip, do you mean the threaded end or the other end?
My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

If they are SKS rods they will be 17" long and have 8-32 thds. Some, like my Sporter have M4-.7 thds but these rods are much shorter oal.
When guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns.

Here's what I've got. Pics show the 'larger' rod, (identified by the rough finish on the crown or top of the rod). Measurements are 433mm in length, 7mm across the top.
The 'standard' rod measures 434mm in length and 6.5mm across the crown. I didn't measure the threads difference, but the style of the screwtips are markedly different. Oiled paper packing might help to identify origin of the 'larger' rod.

Looks like the shaft is a bigger diameter as well, I'm sticking with M44/M38/T53 rod which is slightly fatter and 1/4"-1/2" longer than an SKS rod

Sounds legit.
Just for grins, did a quick Dremel pass on one of the crowns. Slipped right in, closed bayonet, no rattle.
