1933 Mostly Matching Izhevsk M91/30

I got this along with the other two I just posted. I gave $150 cash and $100 in junk silver coins. It has an amazingly beautiful bore and it also has a matching bayonet. What I'm curious about is the Triangle with arrow next to the wreath with hammer and sickle...?

I just put it under my LED lights and there's nothing inside the triangle. At the bottom of the receiver there is the one triangle with the arrow which is still puzzling.

No, in 1933 they were a couple of years into full production of the M91/30.

When Chumak's list first came out in publication, he initially did not identify /1\ at all.  He generated a post on guns.ru identifying it as "1870 АБВ МВО" with a location of "Г. Лиски" which translated to 1871st Military District with a location of Liski.  After he had time to further research it, he sent out a clarifying email to a good friend of the board stating that his initial identification of /1\ as 1871 ABV was incorrect, and that he was quite certain it was the 41st Central ABV in the Irkutsk Military District near Irkutsk. 

I don't think any of the other boards have necessarily updated their lists (most just copy and paste RyanE's initial translation graphic) and still use Liski (and some even still stubbornly call it ex-DDR with all that entails...).  Here's a discussion on gunboards that occurred back in 2015: https://forums.gunboards.com/showthread.php?1120893-Help-on-3-East-German-SKS

M08 argues that the shape of the triangle is important (isosceles vs equilateral) and that since a MN stamp and SKS stamp are different they don't mean the same thing.  Chumak specifically stated in a post on guns.ru that the aspect ratio of a refurb stamp is not important, a rectangle laying down on its side with two bars cutting it into three equal segments is from the same facility as a square with two bars cutting it into three equal segments.  We have seen it on various SKS refurbs, for example these covers both have Riga stamps:







I think Irkutsk is the more accurate identifier and to even entertain the ex-DDR notion without a shred of evidence is crazy talk to me...

Ahh I see, when I had left the notion of the whole ddr theory was getting holes shot into it. And last evidence I had heard was about the liski theory and when rechecking this upon returning as you were well to say the list was still saying liski, so I just kind of took it as that and no new evidence had been gathered. Some really great info you have there!

I see his book finally came out while i was away, but is in russian and way more than i can afford, but looks nice
