YY markings on Russian SKS receiver cover

Just curious if anyone know what the YY marking on this receiver cover means. Its scratched in or electro penciled. I also have the same stamped into another receiver cover i will post pics of later when im home.

I see that they are fitting to be considered Y's yet in the far right cover the 4 in 1949 is open like a Y and looks like it was EP'd.

My disclaimer here is I know enough about SKS's  and the Russian alphabet to fit on the tip of a sewing needle. But Google and I are partners in crime so I learned enough about the alphabet in a few minutes to see the customary way it's taught to be understood.

I believe that is a training rifle designation also seen on Mosin Nagants (iirc).

(1) it's not YY, it's Cyrillic УЧ; (2) this marking can be found on a variety of Soviet military items, including firearms, binoculars, scout periscopes, scopes, etc.

It's commonly believed to be a marking for training equipment. However, there're still some debates, especially among Soviet military optics collectors in Russia.
