I hate to admit it but I stuck my nose up at SKS's back in the day of $89 Albanians, $99 Romanians etc because they weren't "REAL" semi auto milsurps...what an idiot. I just bought a Norinco to scratch an itch for a stripper-clip capable semi-auto. Sure wish I bought a few of those SKS's now!! Anyways here I am after a healthy-helping of crow and hope to learn some stuff. Thanks

Bacarnal

Welcome, H34Choctaw.  Yeah, pretty sure we all here have our "I shoulda" moments, so you're in good company. I personally am learning a lot here, so dive in, the waters fine.  Cheers, Bruce Carnal.

Hello and welcome from Arizona.

Bacarnal is right about the "I shoulda" moments. I've eaten a fair share of crow, too.

Welcome from Washington State! Enjoy the site and join the conversations!

I always liked the looks of the H34. That raised cockpit is interesting. Did you fly one, or crew in one?

P32, glad you twigged on the H34, flew right by me (ba-dum...ching).  The H34 proved that you can use a radial engine on anything, planes, tanks then helicopters.

When I got out of the Army working on and crewing UH-60's I went to work for a small construction helicopter comapany called Aircrane, Inc out of Winder, GA-not to be confused with Erikson Aircrane out of Oregon. We had just one, and eventually two H-34's that had been converted to the civilian S-58 but retained the the 1820 cu inch radial made by Curtis Wright. We flew all over the southeaast putting airconditioners on Home Depot's, Lowe's, Targets, etc., pulled aircraft wrecks out of forests, pulled power line wire in the mountains, etc..it was an adrenaline junkies dream job. That was back in the early to mid nineties. We flew with one pilot and two mechanics usually, and got a little flight time in them going from job to job when the pilot wanted to take a nap!!

I've been here in ATL since a wee lad in the early '70's back when the Braves and the San Diego Padres were battling for last place in their division. Rode the wave when they became a winning team in the early 90's.....have been let down so many times I became a member of the "Brave's Fair-Weather Fan Club".....we only pay attention to them at the start of the first round of play-offs. It makes for a much shorter season to have wasted watching them play!

I know exactly what your talking about. They have some really good talent right now. Acuna Albies ect so Im not giving up hope for us. Yeah when they were in the NL west I went to SF all the time to see them play. I did go last summer when Riley was hot. Dude won the game for us. Im not giving up on him yet either : )  Good to see the ATL in the house here at the files  clap1
