Hi, again, y'all!

Found this gun in a local pawn/gun store.  Been sitting there all summer and fall.  Took a young friend to find a bull pup candidate, because he has never owned one, and there this sweet little China doll was.

Beautiful with a capital "B", is all I can say.  He bought it on the spot, and got a great deal, well under $400/OTD

He went back home to sleep (he's LEO in one of our suburbs), so I returned home with her, and began disassembly and cleaning.  Pics show it to be in practically new state, all throughout the rifle.

There was maybe enough carbon to indicate 30-40 rounds fired, and it wasn't cleaned afterward.  The machined metal edges will cut your fingers, or thumb!  She is all numbers matching, arsenal 016, KSI importer, numbered in the 18 million with a "P " at the end. Stock is for cruciform bayo, but it is missing.  No sweat, I have several.  No cleaning kit, no sling, but I have a couple.

Went to cock it, and felt resistance uncommon around the dust cover, so assumed an interference there.  Nope.  Pulled the squiggly spring out and tried to remove the bolt/carrier, and they slid back forward!  What the.....?  Two springs??

Finally, had to drive out the magazine with a dowel rod, after I managed to get the bolt and carrier off its rails and remove, popped the trigger pack out, and found the face and head of the hammer were rubbing on the bolt bottom face, snapping the bolt forward when released.  Crazy bad fitting job in the stock mag well, and clearance around the receiver.  Is KSI the old Century?

Every part in the rifle still had mill oil and streaks of cosmoline remaining.

Is this the easy fix I foresee?  File the hammer facing and top till it just clears the bolt bottom, or leave it to the pro's?

Here are pics.  I included one to show how much cosmoline was on the tappet spring.

maybe just a good cleaning will take care of everything.  two springs  :o.   maybe some cocking (to seat everything if its hardly ever been fired to get rid of the burrs). then some polishing with a dermal.

Whwn you are faced with an sks that was used but never de cosmolined by the previous owner, just clean everything extra good and get it to the clean and lubed condition that it should have been in first.
Then see how it works before messing with anything would be my choice.

I think the hammer contacting the bottom of the carrier is normal, after all thats how the hammer is reset.  May want to take a look at the sear because if someone took the top 'flat' of the sear down too far it can cause the hammer to stick up higher when rested on the sear.

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

The rifle has not been bubba'ed at all.  It still could have dust cover issues, since it needs a bit of room , as you have stated, it needs to tilt!  May be entirely related to the cover.

Thanks so much, my fellow SKS fans!

Was the return spring installed facing the right direction?

Yes, sir.  Squiggly end in first.  But, never mind the problem.  There is no problem.  It was little girly frog, name of Kermit, who couldn't pull hard enough to cycle the bolt all the back.  This thing has the heaviest bolt action I have ever run, even harder than the Old Yugo I started the SKS disease with.  Simply nearly brand new..........Crazy!

Super tight.  No problem at all, 'cept me being a little tadpole girly frog!

Thanks again, guys!

All I ended up doing was file the nose of the mag frame 1/16 of an inch.  That makes me a file clerk, right??
