Hi all,

My name is Tommie and I just got my first SKS last week.  I hope to learn a lot from the community here about my new rifle.  Thanks for having me.

Greetings from New Mexico!

Great looking SKS you have there.  Looks like a pre '66 (long barrel lug) Chinese type 56 maybe?  Stock is inlet for a spike bayo yet she sports a blade which means one or the other is a replacement.  Post up any question you want in the appropriate section and you'll get all the info you want and more from the fine membership here.  thumb1

Once again, welcome to SKS-Files!

Hi Carl,

That's strange.  It works for me in Chrome and Firefox.  I checked Internet Explorer and MS Edge and both show the X in them.  I posted this with IE instead of Firefox and the images are now showing for me in both IE and Edge.  Any luck on your side?  Hopefully so, I don't know how to delete this post if it is a duplicate with the X in it.  :-[

Thank you running-man.  It is a type 56 and according to the website that led me here (chinesesks.weebly.com) it is an arsenal 26 made in 1957 as it is a 2 million serial number.  That site and Yooper John's both say it should have the blade bayonet for that year.  And the serial numbers all match.

Since I'm a noob I did not know that about the stock.  But with the info I've seen so far that leads me to guess the stock is the replacement.

The pics are working for me on both posts.

Interesting, photos were working fine before, now I only see 1 of the 4, the rest are img not found question marks.  I've never gotten Google or Amazon photos to directly post to a blog w/o issues like this.

Interesting.  I still see them fine.  Anywho, I've created a ImgBB account per a recommendation above and will use that to post images from now on.

I see all of the pics fine also.  Dont know what everyone else is experiencing that they cant see them but, what ever they are using as a browser, etc. is not serving them well.  By the way, I am using Pale Moon as a browser which is a variation of firefox, but much better with no tracking, confidentiality, or other issues that firefox is known for.  YMMV!

This is strange.  Well I am posting again this time using the imgbb code.  Hopefully everyone can see them now.  Sorry for multiple pic posts.  Lesson learned about using Google photo links.
