New to the Board, i am. And i have a new Girl, a Model 59' SKS

Post picture hopefully tomarrow. .
Got it from a Friend dressed in a Draginov, I'll have to wait for him to get the original stock so i may use her properly. It has 2- 40 round clips for me to use as it is for now. I wont take her far away from the house cause in Florida the citizens might get worried or the cops get over active. So yes im looking forward to the 10 round internal mag, and original stock. He had 2 AKs and wasnt using the safe queen SKS, so i got it reasonable (felt like i robbed him).. i will use it, as i may for hunting deer or hog, "Farm" use, target practice, defense or combat the Zombies durin or After a Hurricane if i must. It is General Purpose and just cause its a Mod 59 i wont lock it down and away.. i plan to utilize it as any Rifle begs to be. Im "Steam lined" in rifles. A scoped hunter, 12 gauge, muzzle loading, 22 light purpose, and now this 7.62x39 General Purpose SKS Rifle (59' Bunny) all of mine have a Role to Play

Welcome aboard. Looking forward to seeing some pictures and watching the restoration  thumb1  :)

I like my Yugoslavians and the M59/66s are interesting because they’re a configuration unique to the Yugoslavians but I like the standard SKS configuration, like the M59, best for shooting.

Picture tryouts. (I took the "cheek riser" off, i couldn't see my sites well with it. So its not in the picture. I do have the bayonet but there is no groove on the stock for it so its off till i get the original stock.. then we shall see if i keepbit on out of safety. .)

Welcome to the Files....and congrats on your M59...prepare for more, nobody has only one SKS for very long.

Nice to see you plan on restoring it...and that you have an M59 bayonet, those are not very easy to come by....nor are the proper stocks.

The patience required will be well worth the effort. A fairly recent uptick in the Yugo supply may come in handy...an original mag should be pretty easy to locate...as will be finding a 59/66 stock if you are tempted to get out of that ATI and into wood sooner. :)   You could remove the buttpad those come with and install a normal buttplate fairly easily...and it will look proper for an M59.

I have a Yugo magazine living on one of my Chinese at the moment...if you can't locate a Yugo mag, but can score a Chinese I will happily swap you.  It's already a conundrum of Chinese and Russian parts...the Yugoslavian magazine is a little out of place.  chuckles1

Welcome thumb1

Restoration is a good thing... the purist in me cringed when I saw what happened to the M59.  Glad you got the bayonet..an original is sometimes like trying to find hens teeth.

After Romanians... the M59 is kinda my second favorite SKS  :)
I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse......

Leave the gun, take the cannoli.

I said I was an addict........I didn't say I had a problem

Thank you all for the comments, i am still waiting to get the Stock dont have a time frame getting it. Wish it had the Synthetic Monte Carlo Stock instead on it now. But i am looking for a 5 round magazine for hunting deer with for later. And i understand grease monkey having a Cringe moment. Shooting a weapon with 40 rounds in a Mag is in my opinion extreme. I was offered, i seen it, and i took the offer. It was shot maybe 100 times in beginning of 6 years by prior owner who got it in trade. Then He stored it in a Safe and kept it there cause of his other purchases of an AK47 and AR15. So in a way ive rescued a good rifle and when my friend obtains the stock for it in his stuff stored off property for me, then I'll redress the rifle as i look forward too.
