Stock Ferrule Comparison Spike vs Blade

This afternoon I compared the stock ferrule on my 1949 with the one on a 1951 Tula. It is very obvious that the ferrule for the spike stock is much small than that for the blade stock. So my guess is that the ferrule on transitional 1950's (with blade bayonet) with re-enforcement weld may not be simply modified from the original spike stock ferrule.
