My latest find, a 1971 Albanian. It's a mismatched rifle, but has an oddity. A Russian electro-penciled serial prefix top cover. The bolt is a total mismatch and carrier is as well. No serial number is found on this stock.

I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse......

Leave the gun, take the cannoli.

Are you saying the top cover is electro-penciled "like" a Russian or is a Russian top cover ?

Possibly, the cover might be off a Russian refurb, the BT suffix can be traced to the Cyrillic alphabet. No other variant SKS I can think has that type of serial.  Finding other countries parts on an SKS is not that uncommon, I also have a Romanian with a Yugoslavian bolt.

After seeing your other pics of the cover.  I'm convinced its an albanian made cover that was serialized to a russian, and then found its way onto your gun. There were plenty of russians in albania during the years and after the albanian sks was made.

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

If that's the path it took.. that's pretty crazy ending up back on an Albanian. Nice score, that's the first I've seen of that. That sure is a nice lokin Alby, a great partner for your 78'.
