All I make of it is...  The triangle around the 26 is actually a 0 making it 260.

Interesting, but why would the arsenal number be different then the 'company product code'?

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

"Product code" usually refers to an item being made/sold. So are they saying that arsenal 296 is making item 260 (type 56 SKS)?

But your also looking at a crudly translated statement where non comparable words are substituted with a similar end result word or set of words.

The /26\ is also on plenty of other guns and the sks already has a model designation.  Makes zero sense.

Right, lots of /26\ T53s out there.  I took it to mean that the /\ makes up the zero to get to the 260 too.  The translation is very crude, & it easily could be nothing at all.  It's just something interesting I'd never heard before.  Everyone calls it factory /26\, but it seems that *may* not be totally correct (but heck it's going to take more than a single internet post w/no data to prove it).

We know 296 existed from the early T53 stampings.  That they transitioned to 26 and finally /26\ from the '55 through '60 guns is a pretty good trail to follow.

The Chongqing Construction Group is interesting too.  We've always called them Jianshe (or Chianshe) Machine Tool Factory.  Maybe one is a subsidiary of the other as Jianshe is obviously in Chongqing/Chungking/Changking?  I've seen "Chianshe" official records cited in numerous books, with some even giving the number of workers in specific years.

Maybe the guy is simply full of it too!  :)  Lord knows there are enough posters of that nature on this side of the Pacific! Besplode

The numbers dont lie or get skewed by google translate.   :)
