Is there much difference in the sight tools?  I need one and from looking on eBay I see they range anywhere from 10-25 bucks.  I need to look locally too to see if they have one at my lgs.

Hey jeepguy, my wife bought one from ebay for $9.95, it's handy as a pocket on a shirt and a 'must have' item in my estimation! Your local gun shop might have one, I don't know if there is one any better than the other however.

Thanks for the advice, I was afraid the first time I used a cheap one it would bend or break. Off to eBay...

I have had no complaints with mine, its very durable.

Get the UTG model 47 sight tool. It's a newer design, and the part of the tool that adjusts side to side has been contoured to better fit the SKS front sight block.

+1.    My father had an (I think NCstar) that had major side/side fitment issues..

If I remember correctly, the only way to get the through hole lined up so the 'barrel' can clear the tool was to put the bottom edge of the body up on the curved portion of the fsb. When you started to drift the sight, it slipped off the curved part of the fsb and was no longer aligned.   Worthless....  I threw it down range

Yeah, that's the problem with the blocky style ones. They hit the FSB where it curves and then the tool doesn't line up.

mixed results for me, I had some that worked great and had a few that ended up being my target of opportunity for the day and boy when you wing them they go flying and make a crazy whizzing sound lol

No problem. You will also want to get a little tube or something you can slip over the posts for more leverage. Some of those sight barrels are TIGHT.

I had the same problem with mine (probably because this was supposedly an AK adjustment tool), but after searching the issue, it was suggested that you file down an inner corner, so the tool will fit firmly against the front sight post, and under the bulge of the sight hood. I clamped mine in a vise, and went to work on it with a file for several minutes. Now it fits flush with the side of the sight post, and allows the "adjustment tube" (or whatevr it's called) to move freely through the hole in the tool, and presumably, it will still function with an AK.

This will be the last one you will ever need. After breaking mine, and two friends on a stuck front sight, i bought all of us this one.

I have an NC Star one that works great on my WASR and SKS. Got it years ago off of eBay for under ten bucks.
