Alrighty here you go guys.

"Stella quarta decima fulgeat. May the 14th star shine bright."

Article 16th. Right to bear arms; standing armies; military power subordinate to civil -  Vermont Constitution

That the people have a right to bear arms for the defence of themselves and the State - and as standing armies in time of peace are dangerous to liberty, they ought not to be kept up; and that the military should be kept under strict subordination to and governed by the civil power.

Nice looking gun.

That stock isn't original to it though.  I think $400+ is a bit high for it honestly.  In the grand scheme of things 6015736 is really not much different than gun 7015736 except for a single digit on the receiver. :)

Good thing you dont collect rare variations!     rofl

Bert...  Did you buy it?   Just as I suspected, the serial is sub 20k for 1961.  Great stuff

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

I didn't, I'm broke as a joke with a new baby and finace on unpaid maternity leave. I was going to sell my 10 million to get it but he messaged me that he had a buyer with cash in hand. I've asked him who the buyer was so I can maybe work out a deal with that guy, or pass some info to one of you if interested.

I was wondering about the stock. the guy who had it really didn't know anything about SKSs and I had to walk him through even getting me the s/n -_-

I'm probably just gonna keep my eye out for a 9mil in the next few months. I like the idea of having a last year blade production and a first year spike production. that's about as "collector" as I'll ever be lol

What's the variation in this case? A single number 6?  C'mon I'd love to have one if I was collecting one of each year, but to the avg. joe there is no difference between this 6 mil and an equal condition 7 mil.  To the avg. joe there should be no difference between the avg '54 Tula and '54 Izhevsk, but it's been pounded into *everyone's* head over the past 20 years that the Izheveks are rare, they are special, they are desirable, they are better!

I think we all can understand and accept that the 6 mils (and the Izhevsks for that matter) had a lower production run than other years / factories but that's where my enthusiasm & cheerleading stops. clap1

Everyone's got to decide what factors drive their collecting, and chasing rarity is certainly one of them.  I just choose to be more pragmatic about going after something, paying out a huge premium, and following the herd simply because XYZ gun is 'rare'.  Probably why all I own is trashy guns! (just ask Blicero!)  chuckles1

Loose}{Cannon

Laff....   Certain years in any country can fetch a premium and be very collectable.  With only 10 of these on the books (first year of characters in a very very low production year), its among the rarest years in the chinese saga.

Estimated 21k of these made that year......  How many Izzy??  Few million?

Like...  Why pay more for a triangle on a cover?    rofl

The variation is....  Extremely low production year.  A 7 is not a 6, 7s are freakin everywhere.

Someone that does not care about a star vs a triangle or a very low production year vs a high production year likely isn't  concerned with collectability yet alone the rare factor.

Im guessing a 49 russo should not carry any premium or collectability...  I mean, its just a year!!

It's just 21k in a year ::), whoop dee doo  :P, Albania probably didn't even make 21,000 in 10years of production.

But, that /26\, that star and the holier than thou arrow are the shizzle my nizzle... rofl
I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse......

Leave the gun, take the cannoli.

I said I was an addict........I didn't say I had a problem

CARBINE

So RM if a 6m and a 7m were at a gun show side by side, same condition all matching and same price you wouldn't care which one you bought?

I'm not ragging on anyone who chooses to collect them, I'm just tempering expectations a bit.  There were 20k+ of them produced.  How many made it to the US?  Yes we only have a few on our list, but I suspect there are bunch of them out there, people simply don't notice them among the millions of other Norinco other guns that are almost identical except for there being a 6 instead of a whatever on the receiver.  They fall through the cracks in ways that a EG or NK simply don't.

A 49 Russian is a whole other beast with all sorts of different design features that make it unique...not just a gun with a 6 instead of a 7.  Same could be said for many of the Chinese like a side swiveled 3 mil /26\, a blade bayo'd 9 mil /29\, an inverted receiver cover latched 12 mil /26\. Yes I realize you could argue the 6's belong as they have the first 56 Type Characters, but meh a 6 mil vs a 7 mil just doesn't get a rise out of me for whatever reason (Izhevsks don't either for that matter).  Just my personal preference I guess.   thumb1

That's a good question Tony.  Assuming equal condition and price, I would get the one I didn't have.  Seeing as I don't have either a 6 or 7, I'd likely take the 6 mil.  Rarity does mean something to me, it just doesn't rate as high on my scale as it does for other guys.

At the same gunshow table if there was a '54 Tula and a '54 Izhevsk in the same scenario, I would take an Izhevsk 100% of the time simply because I know the demand for the Izhevsk is going to be there should I have to move it - it's been pounded into everyone's head that the Izhevsks are the SKSs for collectors to get.  That djinni is out of the bottle, it's never going away.  I might as well maximize my profit by understanding it, even if I don't agree with it.  :)

Loose}{Cannon

Sure there is more out there....  There is more of everything 'out there'.    rofl

Good thing we have a good idea of production numbers compared to the year after and its not exactly raining 6ms

So I guess the cash never showed up. This gun is still available if any of you are interested in getting in contact with the seller I can try to facilitate that. I think I'm gonna pass, too many bills need to be taken care of right now and I don't want to make him wait a month or more for me to afford it. I don't think he's dead set on $400 that's just the going rate around here for any SKS.

Thanks Bert!...   Hopefully one of our guys picks this up!
