Got the BBQ paint but otherwise is all present and correct in a Laminate stock. Comes with 185 rounds of ammo and some stripper clips. Local guy has it. What do you think a fair value would be on this?
My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

Im guessing 475?

Prolly check out the latest GB sales report from RM...

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

Checked that and there were no marked '55 rifles sold across the board. Makes me think they are less common. This is a clearly mark receiver cover. The '54 heavy's were averaging $571 so I'm thinking it may be worth around $600???? It is a clean looking gun.

I dont think a 55 tula is any more uncommon then a 54.  lol

I would say that the ammo and strippers add at most, $50 to the deal.

I don't think '55s are any 'rarer' but with only two months of data, it's hard to tell.  There are a buttload of '55 covers out there, I can tell you that for certain.

FTF here in NM that gun would be fairly priced at $550, but I consider NM to have high prices and pretty low volume.  Missouri is a whole other ball of wax. :)

For comparison....Here in VA $400-450. $500 Max if they were really pushing the fact its russian.

But.....Russians are few and far between around here as well...
Hippies are like stray cats...Feed 'em once and they never leave...then they stink up your couch.

I just helped my daughter's brother-in-law pick this rifle up for $500 including the ammo and extras. I went with to do an inspection on it. Looks like the guy shot it when he got it and then put it away without cleaning it where it sat for the next 8 years. Brought it home and we tore it down, cleaned it up, and I educated him on it as he is new to the SKS world. Happy to say this one will stay in its current configuration and he will be looking out for a cleaning rod to complete it. Everything is present and correct on the SN list with a double cross-bolt laminated stock, sling, cleaning kit, ammo pouch w/3 clips, and oil bottle/pouch.
Everything looks correct for the '55 year as well with the exception that the FCG is from an early('49-'53) Model-45 as it has the flat housing and is missing the safety spring and no Rebound Disconnector(or the Trigger Arm Mount as they also call it on Yooperj's site)

Sounds like a good deal with the ammo and strippers thrown in  thumb1

I'm guessing he didn't shoot corrosive ammo and put it away, so thank heavens for small favors  :))

Greatguns

Yeah, his wife wasn't too happy about the strippers, but........ rofl rofl

Anyway, anybody got a Russian cleaning rod laying around before we go buy one of those Chinese ones floating around on Amazon?
