Man, I'm having a rough month with arsenal stamps.

At first I thought, no way that could be a 0408, but heck if I can find anything else that's even remotely close :(

If I've seen it before, it's probably one of these:

But I'm having a heck of a time making a 4 out of that second character...maybe the horizontal is hidden by the wood?

It's not a traditional /0405\ or /0406\ as those look like this:

What does everyone think?

If there is a four in there, I would think it might be the first, with the horizontal obscured by the wood.  The last character looks like a 5 in the first and a 6 in the second.

4005 or 4006? 0005 or 0006?

its 0408
the horizontal portion of the 4 is right at the wood line.

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

The horizontal portion of the 4 needs to be lowered in the drawing...

If the picture LC posted truly is an 0408, then I agree with him. It looks like that stamp. I also think the font stamping for the chinese letters next it matches perfectly to the gun LC posted as well, which would be more evidence they were done at the same place.

I should have posted this one that I use in the survey with my examples (unfortunately it's not out of the wood either, what's with that?!):

Here's a better photo w/o the wood, poor resolution unfortunately.
