Just joined.  Have a 1950 Tula SKS with a nicely refinished(horrors)laminated stock, a peep rear sight and otherwise stock and in excellent condition.  A fun and accurate shooter.  It joins its Russian family of a '43 MN 91-30, 2011 Molot VEPR 7.62 x 564r and a '38 Nagant Revolver.  I can't see why folks would take off the wood on these rifles but to each their own.

You're among the like minded here Paul.  Welcome to SKS-Files, glad to have you.  Neat '50 you have there.  The stock repair up front is pretty cool.  I love seeing the old style bolts and carriers on the '50's and before guns.  There are not too many "Я" prefixed guns out there either, thanks for sharing. thumb1

Welcome dbluefish.  I'm with Carbine and LC, the only thing that would improve that first pic would be a fat lazy Eastern Diamondback in-frame  :o  rofl

I spent four years in the mid 90's working at Tyndall AFB (civilian research scientist) and living in Panama City Beach.  Visited Tallahassee many times racing bicycles and doing the tourist thing at Florida Caverns and crystal clear Wakulla Springs etc.  Beautiful saw palmetto/pine countryside, and the turquoise waters and white sand beaches in PCB aren't bad either  :)
