SKS Barreled Receiver
« on: March 24, 2019, 07:33:27 PM »
Looking for a project starter with mechanically sound receiver and good quality barrel assembly; cosmetics are secondary but no heavy rust/pitting.  Thanks.

You could try your luck with these guys....I got a pretty nice /606\ from them that only needed a little light surface rust removed...and then once I got a letter gun that was pretty heavily pitted in a few spots...but is still workable.

You might ask for a hand pick option for a pitting free one.

That was my backup plan but I had heard many were pitted pretty badly.  Just checking to see if anyone had decided to let one of their stash go.

I picked up a couple SARCO units. Pitted but not horribly. Also came with both sights (one's missing the post). I'm thinking of putting the worst one in a Shernic after working it over a little. PAX

Funny...one of my two also was missing only the post.  What arsenal(s)/millions are they out of curiousity?

/26\ but I don't have them yet. The Kali DOJ has me on a "Delay Delivery" for another 12 days. This is the 3rd time in 4 DROS applications within 6 months, one being an 03-A3??? ::). This go round it was 5 SKSs, 2 Paras and 3 actions. The scuttle butt in Kali is that there's a lot of that going on. PAX

I got a delay on one of mine too...my FFL found it odd for a barreled receiver. Perhaps they are just looking for stuff like that?

It's my 5th delay.
The 1st was on just a New Frontier lower, not even a complete rifle. Long story short, I got an actual DOJ person to walk me threw the cause (like a case worker), a vehicular mishap in 1970, when I just turned 18. I was assured that the issue pertaining to the incident was resolved.

Three years later I got another "Delay", my second, with no explanation from the DOJ, on a transfer for a horse trade, a Savage M69 ex-cop pump shotty for an Ishapore 2A1.
I met the seller 2 hrs. away, for the Kali 10 cool off, so it was 2 trips for me. The delay screwed up the transfer because of store policy, they return to seller. I'm out the fees and I ended up having to pay to have the 2A1 shipped to my FFL and another  transfer. I still came out way ahead, but now I ask what the FFL's policy is, if I haven't used them before. This time around the DOJ had a robot saying to pay fees for the instagram check or what ever. FEE$.

It's a shake down for fees. I just wait out the 30 days  8). PAX

Don't think PAX has received his two yet but, Sarco said they were "structurally sound".  There is one review on the Sarco site that would indicate at least some are severe.

I don't have them in my hot little hands yet, but I got to give them the once over at my FFL, when we started the paper trail. The corrosion was/is mostly surface activity below the stock line, at the receiver. The internals were fine. I think my first Para was in worse shape, and with a worn sear to boot. PAX

Three Chinese barreled receivers just showed up on Alist but seller (St. Paul, MN) won’t ship.  :(
