Having some issues with the forum engine here. Gives me errors all the time. Anyhow, the serial is that's a known 49 prefix. The seller wants a bit too much for a bbq refurb but I don;t have one and would like to have one, so let's see if we can work out a deal.

Bottom pinned stock ferrule looks like the read deal to me. Can't really see enough detail of the bayo to say anything except it's a spike.  Would need to see the rest of the carbine and maybe do a S/N check vs the database to say with much more certainty.  thumb1

Well the pointy stabbie thing showed up, got a generic brass Mauser muzzle cover to store in the buttstock muzzle cover compartment. Aquired a reproduction cleaning rod, and a basic Mauser sling for it. Now it looks complete.

The hunt to find  the next toy to add to the herd or hoard begins....!

Thinking about getting a 1949 finally. Heavy refurb and the seller wants too much, but the question is whether it is real deal or not. Seems all matching and otherwise no major red flags. What do you think of the stock (refurb but seems legit 49) and the bayo?

Welcome aboard Homer. In your searches, if you find an extra Alby gas tube (not likely), I'm your man. I recently moved an Alby with trench art, a soldiers name I presume, to Portland. One keeper left out of 3. PAX

Welcome from the desert southwest.  Glad to have you here!  thumb1

Please feel free to share your carbines as well as your build.  Albys don't get a ton of love since there's not a ton of them floating around and typically finding individual components like a handguard or bolt carrier can be like searching for a needle in a haystack.
