Romanian SKS / New to me 1958 I picked up on ...
Last post by Greatguns - March 28, 2026, 05:09:21 PM
I picked it up mostly just to get rid of the item I have for trade fodder. My only gripe is that it is in a Chinese, camo painted phenolic stock. It looks okay, but I think it would give better value and look even better in a wood stock. Unfortunately, as we all know, decent Romanian stocks are hard to come by. (if you have one hit me up  :)  )
I am wondering, from those of you who are more in the know on Romy SKSs, if this stock would be a decent match or not. Here is a pic of the stock and then pics of the Romy. LMK what y'all think.

Answered this on your other thread RD, I believe EBs are later '50 transitionals.

Looking through my files with more specimens logged since I last posted in this thread, I believe these EMs are extremely early 1950 transitionals, with some having spikes and some having blades.

EBs with the features you show and describe *and* based on the other examples in the database all point towards them being transitional 50's. Yours would have had a hand-marked ('49 style) original receiver cover like this one:

TRB is Tehnicki Remont Bratunac located in Bratunac in eastern Bosnia & Herzegovina. Part of the old depot repair system of Yugoslavia (e.g., the most well known being TRZ in Kragujevac, Serbia). TRB is no longer state-owned, but still exists as a private company.
