Title: Arsenal Stamps DB, DP Chinese Characters Translations
Post by: jliu123 on March 22, 2015, 10:11:01 PM
I asked a few Chinese about those characters.  The consensus is those are city names.  Most likely code for arsenals cities in Northeast China.

旅: 旅順 (Lushun City)
丹: 丹东 (Dandong City)
沈: 沈阳 (ShenYang City)
大: 大连 (Dalian City)
白: 白城 (Baicheng City)
延: 延庆 (Yanqing City)
吉: 吉林 (Jilin City)

VERY INTERESTING!!!!

I did my best in the arsenals sticky to find the meaning to those characters. By themselves they seem to have a completely dif meaning.  If I'm seeing this correctly, they simply used the first characher for each which renders them incomplete?  This is the first time seeing these following  characters!

Strange...  when you translate the english city name those characters ARE one of the two/three it shows, but when you reverse the translation without the word city... the characters have a completely dif meaning.

Jliu123....  you have any more info on this?  They explain or give any more details as to why only the first character is present or if the following characters are dropped the meaning changes?

Yes.  This one is an easy one and is also in Northeast China.

哈: 哈尔滨 (Harbin City)

RM via text has a very good point.   The DB and DP marked rifles do not have an arsenal stamp which indicates a location.  These characters indicating a location in a dif form other then an arsenal stamp makes perfect sense.
