About as new-in-the-box as they come. thumb1
Your rifle was built in 1980.... 'some' boards think the non 26 rifles cannot be dated, but this couldn't be furfher from the truth. All non 26 rifles came after 1965, so all you have to do is look at the first two digits of the serial, as they are the 'year into production' designation. Your rifle is the 25th year of the type 56 and being that 1956 is the 1st year.... yours is a 1980.
May want to study this post, cant even tell you how much research went into it.
Q: When was my Chinese Type 56 SKS made? - page 1 - Chinese SKS (Military) - SKS-FILES FORUM - Page 1 of 2 (http://sks-files.com/chinese-sks-military/17/q-when-was-my-chinese-type-56-sks-made/360/)

Gorgeous n pristine. Where did u find such a nice example?
Judging by the previous dating method, mine was made in 1971,, not as shiny a stock as yours though and your wood is darker which I prefer.
Beautiful!!! All those pics and no good shot of the arsenal stamp??? :P

Who put the paint on the rear leaf? :P

Who put the paint on the rear leaf? :P
I put those dots on there -- I was testing the functionality of the rifle when I painted it -- it can be easily removed with nail polish remover.
It was a dramatic improvement to the rear gun sights when you simply paint some dots. Another thing is, for AKs and SKS's, you are supposed to keep your face and eyes close to the rear sight when shooting (almost getting your face to the rear end of receiver) to increase the sight radius. That's why these stocks felt short when shooting conventionally.
