Title: CMMG Mk47 Mutant
Post by: Garand1957 on February 16, 2015, 07:48:50 AM
Well I went over to a local gun shop that got a few CMMG Mk47 Mutant rifles in and bought the AKM version.
We can't buy AK rifles here in Maryland anymore or some AR rifles and this hybrid AR/AK that uses AK mags got my attention.
The price for the AKM version was high ($1,599) but it seems like a quality built rifle.
As soon as the snow and sub zero wind chill temps stop I'm going to try it out.

Pretty neat!

Are the MD laws that restrict things based on the name and type of the gun, or evil features or something?  What is it that makes this one legal?

All AK rifles and variants were banned for sale starting 10/01/13 so there was a mad rush here to buy them up before 10/01/13. I already had three Ak's anyway.
Only HBAR AR-15's can be sold after the above date as well and no more M1A rifle sales anymore.
They have had a ban on the sale of 30 round mags for years now so everyone goes to PA or VA to buy their mags.

I've heard it at gun shows, Maryland is very strange about their laws, like
Illegal to purchase, sell or manufacture magazines with a capacity of greater than 10 rounds within Maryland. However, possession of magazines greater than 10 rounds is legal if purchased out of state.  But if you sell said rifle, those magazines you bought become illegal for the buyer, basically, he has to go get his own.

So, why bother with the law, the Chantiliy Va. or Winchester Va. gun shows, seems about 60% of the auto license plates in the parking lot, are Maryland. They will buy up magazines like some "northern" state buy up all the cigarettes as they are passing through. chuckles1
