Title: Going down the SKS rabbit hole....
Post by: gew98 on May 16, 2026, 07:36:02 PM
In the past few months I have gotten back into SKS rifles. Kinda growing on me they are. A 9,1 mil range all matched but top cover Vietnam bringback . A letter series early blade bayonet factory 26 matching , A factory 26 22.1 mil range , matching and last made for the Chinese military .And a russki 1954 Tula with rework stamp , matching mot import marked .

Got them out today and took the time to properly zero each one. Took less than 30 rds to zero all four at 90 yds. The 22 mil ranhe chicom is stupid accurate. The vietnam trophy factory 26 did maybe 5" group. the Letter series was easily 3" group. And surprisingly to me from my experience the 54 tula sot under 3" group.  Now I just need to find the right kind of sling for the russki and proper and complete cleaning kits for all of them. Two have kits - neither has front sight tools. One knurled lid  the other not. No markings.

Nice on the zeroing!!!

What ammo did you use?  Some carbines prefer certain brands over others. I remember a member here that tried golden tiger 122 gr. FMJ and was getting massive fliers. They then changed over to brown bear and the fliers all went away. Was wild.
