Title: 1954 as issued
Post by: Sindone on November 19, 2025, 06:48:52 PM
I got this and an Albanian local to me.  I paid $1700 for both.  I passed on them when I first seen them, went home and just had to go back.  I know 1954 is the most common as issued Russian. don't think it's a great deal, but it still has the original box with all the goodies so I went back.

I think you did OK. The Alby is the sweetheart, almost worth that alone. You won't go backwards in value. The good stuff is getting harder and harder to find. Of course, it would have been nice to get them for 1990s money, but it's only money. You can get more money, someday, maybe soon, SKS not so much. PAX

You got a good deal.

Just being technical, I wouldn't call this an "as issued" gun. Looks more like "Never Issued" to me-- and the attributes of a rifle that went straight from the factory and into long term storage.

A most excellent catch!

Thank you.
I figured if I called it never issued someone would have called me out on it for not being able to prove that.  The bolt and carrier were still full of cosmoline. The stock has a few dings from most likely storage,  but it's a beautiful rifle.

Excellent example. I wouldn't look down on a '54 Tula even if it wasn't in such near mint condition. Great score  thumb1
