I am always on the look-out for a 49 SKS. I came across one for sale and the seller was very honest about the condition. He also sent pictures to show the condition. As the price was right, I bought it. I am in the process of restoring it, but some final touches are required. A proper replacement stock might be hard to find, but I bought 3 a few years ago. Here is an album of the pictures he sent.

Did you end up picking up some of those unissued 1949 pattern stocks that were available a couple years ago? Still kicking myself for not getting one.
Yes, I had bought one for a 49 that had a bladed stock and then offered a lower price if I bought 3 more and he accepted. They were rejects that needed some modification. Seller suggested removing some of the wood to fit properly and sent instructions, but all it required was filing down some of the metal on the cross bolt.
theSKSguy45- concerning the laminate replacement stocks, I might have only one spare left now. I picked up another 49 yesterday and the stock has a crack in it. If I cannot fix, then I replace. Glad now that I bought extras.

I’d be interested in the broken one if you were looking to part with it. A spare would be great for if I find an example without one.
Cleaned, glued, clamped and it is now a keeper. theSKSguy45 - I will keep you in mind if I ever decide to get rid of one.
Appreciate that man. Your collection of 49s makes me a little jealous lol.
