Title: "Don't talk to me or my Son ever again", Hakim and Rasheed
Post by: Nickbau5 on February 18, 2025, 08:42:08 PM
My 2 Egyptian rifles where one wants to copy the soviets and the other has it's traces in the Swedes. When I bought the Hakim the shop had to zip tie the bolt closed, which makes me think at least 1 person got the Hakim thumb.

The entire Swedish Ljungman machine line was bought by the Egyptians for their Hakim & Rashid production.  It's a fascinating story of how that rifle came to be for those that look it up.  Varying quality 7.92x57 ammunition required the gas port valve to be incorporated into the design which, if not cleaned regularly, tends to freeze in place.  Hakim breech covers are nasty things if one doesn't know what they are doing when handling the rifle.

I've always thought to get a Hakim one day and I've held quite a few in my hands, but like an M1 Carbine, it's just not meant to be for me (yet) I guess...  chuckles1

Nice pair! The Ljungman lineage led to a trio of very nice guns. I think the original Ag42 is the nicest in terms of quality and cartridge.

I get what you’re saying about the Rasheed, since it mimics the SKS in a lot of its intended use features: integral bayonet, cartridge, oal, capacity.

I think the Rashid may be the most accurate shooting 7.62x39 semi ever made. The one I have has surprised me with tight groups Iv generally not seen out of an SKS. I think the gas system has alot to do with that. I'v made some dies to reform USA brand Ruger mini 30 mags into Rashid mags with some machined welds added on. They sell every time I put one up. Just no time to crank any out lately. Nice Egyptians ya got there Nick!
