Title: Unbubba'n a Russian but can not date it.
Post by: 556slinger on November 22, 2024, 10:26:18 PM
The original receiver cover was replaced with a scope mount so I haven't a date on the rifle. I will post some pics and hopefully one of you guys can determine at least a rough estimate of a year. On a positive note, it's original bluing and no refurb stamps on the parts that I do have left lol Thanks in advance

Is there a 4 digit number on the barrel collar?

From the features in the photos: 1950 to mid 1952.

Can you post photos of the barrel fore end with a side view of tje Front sight base and bayo lug?

Is the number stamped parallel to the bore or is it stamped around the collar i.e. perpendicular to the bore?

I seem to recall that the parallel batch/hardness numbers ended pretty early-- i think the switch to perpendicular batch/hardness stamps started in 1951. If so it could further narrow production date

thanks ! I appreciate your help.  Sad that someone made this tacticool and lost the original parts. I just lost an eBay auction for a straight collar bayonet last night.
