Just like the title says, SKS-Files needs your help! As you may know, we had been having some difficulties with our previous hosting provider which included extremely slow page loads, periods of inaccessibility, and poor customer service when we asked them to get down to the root of the problem. We packed up the site and have temporarily transferred it to a new hosting company on a one month basis to see if we can do better. If you were around and remember what this site was like in 2014, you'll know that things have been exceptionally good in January. Page loads are wicked fast and we have not had any downtime at all!
After this one month trial, we think this hosting company is the one we want to stick with. Unfortunately, now is when it comes time to pay the piper. To keep the site with this web hosting company will require around $120. The 5 admin have been footing the entire cost for this site since it opened, but now that we have over 100 members, we have decided to take member donations to help alleviate the burden a little bit. We'd love to see 20 members kick in $5 apiece, or 10 members kick in $10 each using the large "Donate" button at the bottom left of the homepage.
$5 is approximately one box less of 7.62x39 during a range session, or skipping a double shot of espresso at Starbucks one morning. If you find the information, guides, and camaraderie on this site useful and enjoyable but have not even registered for a username, would you consider doing so and then donating to help keep us up on the fast servers? Any little bit helps so don't be shy! If there's someone out there who wants to be a sugar daddy and give us a donation that's 1/2 or a full years worth of hosting fees, we would gratefully accept it!
