Finally found a Yugo “sniper” with the night vision pn5x80(j) zrak scope to round out my Balkan war sks sniper collection.
This one had a different mount and scope on it at some point, as well as part of a drill bit in the most rearward hole in the receiver. The dust cover was also ground flat on this side for whatever mount it may have had previously.
The rail section on this matches %100 with the way the sks with the M89 scope is built. Almost none of the numbers match and the front sight hood is bashed in but I Absolutely love it! The condition and modifications of this SKS shows the desperation of the time/region that this Yugo was used in.
Top and bottom are field expedient versions where as the middle with the reverse PU type mount I have been told was purpose made by the JNA ….

Very nice Max, how heavy is the night vision rifle?
The scope adds about 5lbs….. not as heavy as some of the first gen Russian NV scopes but definitely adds some heft to it.
Very cool. What’s the provenance on that one? Was it imported that way or put together in the US?
The rail and the other drilled holes where done at some point during the Balkan conflicts in Yugoslavia it is thought that a pn 5x80(j) NV Scope was used with these forward mounted rails as the eye relief is about perfect. However The Zrak NV scope itself would have been added over here at some point.
