Title: My three Chinese amigos.
Post by: MikeT on July 21, 2024, 03:42:16 PM
From Canada several dealers have batches of “unissed” pre1964 and French ticklers coming in. I have 2 ticklers (one that I have bubba’d for deer hunting) and one 1963.

I have inspected the carrier chamber and barrel. These have no signs of being fired.

Welcome to the boards Mike, glad you were able to log on and post.  Thanks for putting these up!

Do you know who the Canadian importer for these is (Marstar?)

Is the year 8 carbine a recent purchase as well or have you had that one a while?  That is a very nice blade bayo example right there.  Not too commonly seen in such a condition down here these days!  thumb1

The year 24 guns, for whatever reason, are typically found in VG to Excellent condition here in the states.  Very rare to find a beat up year 24 gun unless it's been abused post-import or budba'd and then abused.

Just for my curiosity, how much preservative did you have to clean up from these three?

I don’t know the importer off hand. Marstar might be involved, but they also act as a dealer.

The year 8 type 56 is a new purchase. They are still for sale in limited supply. I was told it was forgotten/old stock. I think there is another 100 or so for sale.

Cosmoline clean up on the 24s were minimal. The 8 was fairly caked in the internals.

Should I buy more of the 8s? Haha

North Sylva is the importer.

As of my reply date, there are currently 4 different SKUs for the newer batches (2022+) Chinese imports:

Same here. Likely because they were genuinely unissued, surplus production (as in they made too much they don't need) guns as the PLA switches its doctrine during the Sino-Vietnamese war(s) which is happening at the same time. Type 56 AK productions were also picking up nationwide.
