Title: Bangladeshi SKS article
Post by: Matchka on July 18, 2024, 12:00:41 PM
Interesting read and news to (admittedly under-informed) me. Has anyone come across a Bangladeshi production variant? Stats, arsenal stamp, etc?

I commented in the other thread as well about the old scuttle-butt/mentality that DP and DB marked Type 56s were contracted to Pakistan and Bangladesh. If they had produced their own, since the US has relations with both countries, one would have thought it plausible that the importers would have made a successful effort to import said SKSs. Buuut, who knows for sure??? dntknw1

Sounds plausible that the Chinese could have helped set up Type 56 SKS and AK production at the Bangladesh Ordnance Factories. However, there is a frustrating lack of evidence available. The video talks about a Bangladeshi SKS but then shows a Chinese Type 56. Wikipedia article sites the BOF homepage but I get a site unavailable message when I try to connect.

If the Bangladeshis did make them, and they’re now retired from service, then hopefully they’ll show up on the American market someday.

I'd be interested in seeing just one GENUINE example of a Bangladeshi SKS.
