Not on the 2018 list; unsure if this is a new one for the mix.

What arsenal are you seeing? "448" or "148" I torn on the first digit.

I see 0148, I think the mark that makes the 1 look a little like a 4 is just that...a mark and not a stamping.

Definitely [0148].  All previous carbines I've seen from of this arsenal have had 71 or 72 prefixes.  0148 w/othe []'s are70 prefix. 

It looks like by '76 they reverted to the standardized year code.

Interesting little marks in the wood under the serial number. They look uniform. Almost like repeated letters or numbers of some sort. That would have been a little hard to do in wood grain. Weird.

Or maybe somebody just got bored?  dntknw1

I think it just defects in the wood.

GG, I agree with you the first "4" is just another line.
