Kinda strange looking at a Russian that was actually used and fired with anger helping to shape world history eh sandstone?     rofl

I know...I know...it's tough to quaff possessing a gun in that condition. But I'll still buy it! See, I'm no snob.

Or were you speaking sardonically?  chuckles1

The best kind, the used kind.

What good is a milsurp that hasn't been used by a mil?

You're probably right 06. It's all fun 'n games until someone gets hurt.

When you boil it all down, I don't own a truly 'nice' gun. Possibly never will.  Doesn't really bother me in the least.

I'm going to be that collector with a buttload of Arisakas and sporterized Mausers that aren't going to be worth much more than what I've paid for them.  It is what it is, a dog can't spend his whole life wishing he was an eagle.  :)

In my opinion, people on this site need to be concerned if they're not getting razzed from time to time.   I hope we can joke with each other w/o getting nasty or making things personal & mean.

Thats what makes this site great! The members are relaxed and don't get all offended, like other places I have been....hopefully it stays that way!

I haven't seen anybody turn hostile or anything. Really it's just fun & games. I think we can have some fun without getting serious and offended can't we?

All I've seen thus far is people preferences and poking fun, nothing serious.

Carry on,

Very true...at least the cover is the same year model!

Yup...  spitting example of why a re-arsenaled Russian can be anything other than what the cover says.  This rifle has 100% 1950/51 features including spring loaded fp, but a new cover (53) was serialized matched to the rifle during refurb.

Heck LC, I hadn't noticed it before, but you can really see the 'O' looking character through the top 3 and a definite '5' through the bottom leading 1 on that replacement receiver cover.  Very noticeable proof that the cover is indeed a replacement there.

Yup...    Seeing a 49 cover on a rearsenaled rifle dont make it a 49.  Other features def play a larger role.

I just wanted to say that Russian sneaks technically aren't Russian. So don't think your gun is special or anything.

That isn't entirely out of the question as far as I'm concerned.   I'm willing to bet Russia had given China some "start-up" rifles in 55/56, and I doubt they held on to them.

Here is a slideshow of my sneak, from SOG .  I've gotten sks's from about 6 different sources and the SOG ones have been the best cosmetically.
