Just back home and wanted to post a quick update on the previously mentioned X grade sks's for sale for 299.00 out of PA. Cracked/field repaired stock seems solid. Missing cleaning rod. All exterior numbers match on metal stock mismatched surface rust on mag. Some quick observations...Some photos for your perusal and comment.

Rode hard and put up wet but still has class. I like it.
Thanks guys.. it will be a shooter for sure. I do like the character of this one. I had a phenolic stock around here some where in a closet but can seem to lay my hands on it that I was going to use as the stock.... cant remember if its was a blade one or spike one.
The description basically said stock with be un usable possibly. This one is ok for plinking. Cra zee to think these were 3 hundo. Cleaning rod 9 buck plus shipping. All in with tax title and tags.... a shade under 350.00.
Not a bad deal in todays market. That one is in fairly decent shape considering the life it lived.
You'll have to forgive me, but where exactly is the crack? I don't see anything.
Nice catch. I envy the fun you have to look forward to cleaning this one up and getting it out to the range.

Ahhh yes... some may like the cleaning process of cosmo but for me its like the dentist... a necessary evil. The crack is at the wrist where you see the couple tack nails. There are extra nails staples here and there where there are no cracks.... I think who ever did it must have been bored that day in the field.

Definitely mineral, as in a petroleum product (aka rock oil). I was just referring to the fact that Cosmoline is a registered trademark US product that the Albanians may not have been able to acquire :))
