I have be been diagnosed at a Stage 1, somewhat benign. I own only two SKS’s at this time. I own a “Light Refurb” 54’ Russian Izzy, and an all matching Chinese/26\ recent import.
I own several AR’s, several AK’s, several precision rifles, several hunting rifles, several shotguns, etc…
I must say, at the end of the day my SKS’s are my favorite. The Chinese/26\ being #1. I think it just boils down to the fact the SKS is a true battle rifle, that could have possibly been issues to troops. My AR’s and AK’s were all made for the civilian market.
Well anyways, would you care to share what Stage your SKS sickness has been diagnosed at?
-Jorge (Geo)
Stage 4, terminal.
AKA:
He's a goner, geezer1
Can I be in his will? :)
Where's the obituary read1
Is that grave dug yet?! hurry1
List of lamentations from the church of Simonov:

Russian: 11 (missing 1952 and 1956 Tulas)
Yugoslavian: 11 (3 M59s, 3 M59 long barrels, 2 M59/66s, 2 std. M59/66-A1 and a Slovenian Protokol)
Albanian: 3 (1967? (no year, SN 005), 1970, pristine 1978)
Romanian: 2 (1957 and 1960)
North Vietnamese: 1
North Korean: 2
East German: 1
edit: checked my bound book and corrected the tally

Holy Simonov! And I thought I was terminal! rofl That puts me down to more like Stage 2, lazy buyer. chuckles1
Phos is so gone he smells like really old cosmoline! rofl2

Hey FC, I’m just trying to help :) You can always say, “Hey (insert wife/SO’s name here), look at P32! I’m not as bad as that guy!” rofl
Uhm... Yeah... Wait.. no, think1 I came to terms with it.. I admitted I'm an addict.. not once, ever have I said I had a problem.
I'm in the awkward recovery stage, trying to turn over a new leaf in my life..... Now, I ENABLE those who lack will power.. I provide that loving little nudge one needs when they feel conflicted, lost and looking for that certain fix...... I mean forgive me, for I fell off the wagon, it's been 15 days since... my own last firearm purchase.. ::)
Don't cast judgement on me... bat1 The voices said we wants it, we needs it... the precious..
rofl2 rofl2 GM.....get outta the coffee at 4am and you ain't been to bed yet.... nea1
I was terminal... took some divorce medicine. It cured me for a few years. But sksitis is back, has been for a while now..... Just fell off the wagon over the weekend again. Probably will need therapy after I remove the cosmoline.
All SKSitis is terminal. No going back regardless of the stage. You can be in remission for some time but it'll get you.

Excellent observation! thumb1
Was on 'life support' when I was hovering at 68 - 80% Chinese, 18% Russian, two Yugos (1 59 and one 59/66) and a Romanian. Pared down to 37, I'm not recovering, haven't taken the cure - just managing the addiction. Maybe Stage 3? Perhaps I'm in denial...! (My BHP'itis counteract$ my SKS'itis. Oh, the vicious cycle.)
I’ll bite, what’s “BHP’itis”?
Stage 17.
Currently in remission.
You know, the only surefire way to avoid SKS #2 is avoid SKS #1...
Thankfully, I have a pretty good immune system when It comes to the SKS. (I know for certain that I can count all of them that I own using only my fingers and toes! For me & my addictive personality, that's almost unbelievable!) The secret is to have understanding that what you have is incurable and the best you'll ever do is to effectively manage it. Sure you'll fall off the wagon every once in a while, but you just have to get right back up and keep going.
At some point in time later in life, it actually becomes easier to resist the enablers' whispers. thumb1

Plus, you run/own this site, compile all of the pictures and info into a manageable and coherent format. I'd say your "immune system" is pretty well over run by now. How many fingers and toes you got?! chuckles1 rofl2 wink1

Woah woah woah! timeout timeout timeout
Let's not discuss how many
gigabytes terrabytes of pictures RM has (yes of SKSs, get your head out of the gutter).
That could be embarrassing seeing as how I keep having to get larger and larger external drives to be able to fit everything + another drive to fit the backups onto..... locomotive1

Spoken like a guy who knows he wants...no, no.... needs a Mosin.. Your just speaking and deflecting from that deepdown urge, denying yourself of the wholesome goodness.. the.... we wants it, we needs it.. I know the cold sweats, the shakes, the tricks the mind plays on you... it's that internal conflict, senil1 the fight it or submit to it..

Guess I am at stage 2.5. Too late to be cured, but kept in check by good judgement. chuckles1 chuckles1 chuckles1
I have my share of them....
I'm a piker by comparison:
9 Chicom Military imported with assorted factories to include a cast receiver
1 Chicom Military presumed to be a bringback
1 Chicom Commercial
1 Chicom "Paratrooper".
1 SKS30
1 SKS D Midwest Ord
1 SKS Sporter slightly bubba'd with AKS style FH/MB and SKS Military stock
1 M59/66 (1973)
1 SKS45 (Tula 1957)
At least enough to outfit a Fire Team with long range support from SVT-40's and Mosin's. See RM, ya gotta think about the long range suppression aspect that the Mosin's would provide and keep with the theme chuckles1 wink1
Nice Bruce!
Bah!!! You don’t need a Mosin, That’s what Swedish Mausers are for! And if that 6.5 can’t get the job done you just keep adding a few mm at a time until you can! If any Mauser can’t get her done then the K31 or something in .30-06 surely would. And if I have to go modern, well then there are enough choices to make me have to really think where that particular rifle and ammo combo might be stored... think1

Dang, I see there's some real collections around here! We need more pictures! (
Don't forget to throw in a few Mosin Nagant pics for RM to harbor in his " 'Files-files") rofl2

RM, sure you could do "all that" with all that, but we're talking about a "theme", ya know. Soviet calibers should stick together. Like M1 Garands and M1 Carbines with M1911's and M1903's thrown in. Mosins, Tokarev's (SVT's and TT33's), PPS-43's. Mausers with G43's, P08's, P38's, MP40's. thankyou1
Matcha, BHPitis I can't afford. Only got one, a 1936 or so Chinese contract with early barrel and early tangent sites. I think I've posted it. My go to critter gun.
HN, Garands are great. Still have 4, but at one time had 12+ and built them, especially the Danish ones in both .30-06 and 7.62x51.
Back to the original post (we didn't de-rail, just hit a pass track chuckles1). Like I said, compared to some, I'm just a piker. Pretty sure GM has more. Phos has proven his (and all the others he's posted showing his really impressive collection, though I thought MY ammo situation was confusing rofl2). Who else has it BAD wink1.

:)) I even have some ammo that is (currently) missing a matching firearm to use it. I also have a very few examples of the converse.
Bacarnal, searched "critter gun". No luck. Could you repost?
As with others, I have a mixed bag of itises...itae?
One of my recent passions is for old pocket guns in 38S&W.

Dang! She's a beauty!!! Appreciating your history with this BHP - IF/IF you'd ever consider a sale or trade, plz PM me. I might have something you'd be interested in - either as a bedside replacement, or a couple of milsurps or moderns to add to your collection.
Wow, I’m glad to hear that I’m in good company! I now understand my sickness will only progressively get worse. Have a great weekend guys…! thumb1
