Take a look at the arsenal stamp on the buttstock. Is this a forced arsenal re-do, or a 'creative' attempt by a second party?

Color and finish could easily be factory, but yes that stock has been refinished somewhere. Everything else looks good though.
I wonder on the scale of "non-refurbished" to "bubba" where this gun lies with most collectors....
So, the Izhvesk stamp on this stock is authentic? To my untrained eye, it appears to bean attempt to 'roughly' replicate a genuine stamp. Size looks right, but it seems to be etched rather than pressed into the wood.
Looks to be flaking finish to me. dntknw1
Hard to say with complete certainty that anything is 100% authentic based in a few photos though.
Here are some pictures of a 54 Izzy that I used to own. There is a good picture of stock.

Comparing to jstin2's '54, I'm inclined to go with r-m's call on the flaking finish. Prolly genuine!
Izzy stock serial fonts, like the Izzy metal fonts, are unique.
As noted, the stock has been refinished, but the the stock serial font suggests to me that its the original stock and arsenal.
However, the circle and triangle are conspicuously different from the rest of the stock stampings. Almost as if someone has re-freshened them (and unevenly, at that) by hand to make the arsenal stamp more discernible.

Yeah, looks like someone took something pointy and tried to scratch the marking in deeper. They could at least have doctored it up some so the lighter color of the exposed wood wasn't so visible.
