Title: Best C&R Shop On The Planet
Post by: echo1 on February 24, 2021, 07:40:03 PM
Hi Guys,

A while back I was in Coeur d'Alene to meet my new grand daughter, whole other story.

Anyway, I went to check out the "Antique Gun Shoppe & Military Items" down the road in Post Falls. AWSOME is too mild, all museum quality. They had everything from what the Plymouth Rock crew carried, to desert storm mortar team, and everything in between, before and after. Injun & cowboy stuff too, flint and obsidian.

I took many pictures. I talked to the owner, Glen E. Mattox, who had just returned from the Portland show, said it would be okay to share with. PAX

HERE'S A FEW TO GET YOU STARTED

I spent 3 hours there and that was the abridged tour. The fella that was the advisor to the Green Beret movie was from that neck of the woods, and they have a bunch of his stuff. PAX

I would have been happy to spend three hours there too. Nearly every display was jaw-dropping. I only spent about 1.5 hours because I was with my wife  :)) She was definitely interested but understandably not quite as interested as I was.

Speaking of swords...While I was working in Idaho this last season, I followed up on a WTB ad in the local rag. A fella wanting to buy militaria. I needed a bayo for an Arisaka T38, so I takes a chance on the fella, and he say he's got a couple extras, come by. He was about 85 mile from our stip. So I get to the place and he was just wrapping up some Nam field radio stuff. He must not have a spousal unit because his stuff was everywhere. Japanese and Nazi SS uniforms, swords, daggers, helmets, flags, mess of rifles (Arisakas, & Mausers) a super bad MUMd T38 paratrooper, pistols (Nambu, P08, C96), Thompson, M38, grease gun. Spent the afternoon with him, Dave Sanders. Museum quality pieces.
Got a good bayo from him. Would have got a Jap flag too, but the only ones he'd let go of, were garrison flags. Make cool car cove.

He had a bunch of giant scale tanks & planes, and old clocks. PAX
