Just want to share some info here. I have just found official information that (1) fiberglass stock was designed and production started before March 1970; (2) there was no strict requirement by the military on which kind of wood must be used for the hardwood stock.

I found it in a tech manual I bought off eBay. The manual was published in 1970 by National Defense Publishing Press (written in March 1970). It was not available to general public. It is labeled 'Internal Circulation' (kind of equivalent to Confidential). It has lots of detailed info on materials used for each part and tech requirements.

Thank you! I found it by accident when I was looking for something else on eBay last weekend. Cost me 10 bucks including shipping, so not bad at all.

2 questions, does it have specific info on trigger/sear fitting for repair work? Kind of like what Kivaari has on his website, but maybe with tolerances???

Don't think it mentions anything regarding the dating process. I will take a look at info on trigger/sear fitting tomorrow.

The title is 'The Semi-automatic Rifle' (not characters in red, which are just quotations from Chairman Mao). In China, the term 'THE semi-automatic rifle' generally refers to Type 56 SKS.
