Title: Yugo police?
Post by: BMont on July 05, 2020, 11:37:18 AM
Good morning every one.  Just wanted to post and ask the general question to see what others thoughts were on these rifles.  Aim surplus had these a couple years back I think.  First glance.  Scrubbed/unissued military rifles modified for police contract?  New stock added, grenade sights removed but gas cut off remains.  Any one know other info?

Conversions for the American market to be NY, CA, etc. compliant. A Yugoslavian commercial model.

They are pretty tidy looking compared to some bubba jobs I have seen regarding the front sight.  It's pretty cool to have a bayonet, a brake...and the option to go straight pull bolt action for a bit more horsepower. :)

I imagine the reason the gas shut off was left was to use up old stock of gas tubes that require it, since they went to the trouble of modding the front sight to not look like someone just took off the ladder.

If I were trapped in one of those states...I would be happy to have it.  It would be nice to have an essentially brand new SKS option on the market more often.  It sure would be nice if we could get the new commercial Russians.

Although modified, that is a beautiful rifle, and I'd be proud to own it.

Yep this one has been a safe queen since purchase.  I have several other sks's that are shooters.  This one is as clean as they come from the factory.

Mine is also a safe queen, when I got it home, I had to clean it since someone fired it and didn't clean it. I also added a cleaning rod (it just completes the rifle to me) and cleaning kit into the butt stock area.
