My one and only M1 Garand as of right now, it's a July 1943 manufactured Springfield Armory rifle. She isn't the prettiest Garand out there, and there are many like her, but this one is mine. There is a Circle P and Non-Circle P on the stock, other than that there is a very faint crossed cannons.
Been trying to nail down dates for the drawing numbers and every site contradicts each other.
Trigger Group: D28290-14-SA (Nov 44 - Jan 45)
Bolt: D28287-19SA, B 15 (Jul 44 to Oct 45)
Op Rod: D35382 9 SA (Nov 43 - Jan 45)
Receiver: D28291-29 (Jul 43 - Sep 43) Serial Number of 1738447 puts it at July 1943
Barrel: S-A-4-49 so an April 49 barrel
She has some good honest wear to the parts, and has that been there, done that look, which I absolutely love.

Nice Garand, RS. A 1949 barrel is a good replacement. It should have the chrome at the gas port pad. She also has the T108 sights, which are easier to use than the lock bar sights. Do you have any way to gauge the muzzle and throat erosion? On the whole, she looks to be a good, solid example. Cheers, Bruce.

Don't have the gauge to do ME and TE. I'll have to look for the chrome at the gas port that you mentioned.
Like I posted I like her well used appearance, versus the ones I see that look like they were just made.

I like her! I'd be happy to own that as an example.
I have yet to pick one up although I do have a lot of parts minus a receiver to start building one. I'd love to have an original really nice one and then a couple been there done that examples also. Maybe one day.
