Thought id post up my Chinese Sino Soviet SkS tonight. As far as I know these were built in the transition when the chinese were using remaining Russian parts to get started with their production. The experts here know allot more about the history of the production and transition of these fellas than I do but nonetheless here are some pics of my favorite sino in the collection..

That stock is amazing. Looks almost like arctic birch from some angles.
WOW!!! DC, that is one gorgeous Sino!
beauty, thanks for sharing. thumb1
Beautiful !!! thumb1. That's a Jewel. I don't know if I'd shoot it or just look at it wink1
Wow, what a nice find! Was it in that pristine condition when you acquired it, or did you have to clean it up?
Thats just how I got it Wayne. Any SkS that has bingo letters in it and sounds like a call out, Im on it chuckles1
I 4426 lol
Good looking specimen. I've always been confused on the Sinos.
So a letter or lack of one, and no /26\ stamp make it a Sino? I have several so marked but CAI import stamped.
One of my latest SARCO barreled actions was numbered 33XX but has Janshe arsenal. PAX
Crazy nice specimen.... you had this one a while?
much nicer than mine, beauty. thumb1

They're all Sinos.
The the Sino-Soviet designation seems to be less of an agreed upon term. But I think the Soviets were pretty much out of the production picture by 1959 or 1960.

Does seem to have a Russian flavor about it. PAX
Thanks for all the comments and nice words thumb1. Ive owned it for about 5 years now and keep it in a insulated crate along with my top ten choice sks's :) I believe its a 1956. But the pro's here know alot more about these things then Ive ever spent time to research. The only little downfall on this one is that these particular sinos have a small star on the right side of the lower stock as you can view on the link ive posted and this gun has had it scrubbed during a possible re arsenal. I can see by eye a light indication but not very good. The Russian featured stock appears to be birch as many were during that run "see link" Pretty rare, Pretty cool, Pretty sure I won't be shooting it anytime soon chuckles1

What an incredible rifle!
That is a beautiful 1959-60 letter gun. I do have a special fondness for the early Type 56s with blade bayonets etc. the stock on your rifle is exceptional thumb1

Okay Thanks Phos. Been awhile since I visited the documentary pages of the facts and data. My only other Sino Soviet letter is one which the stock was replaced ie non numbered. This one is also in the 1959 60 production era ? Thanks for the update. thumb1

Yes, another letter gun thumb1
In brief: The /26\ symbol for Jianshe didn’t appear until April 1957, after ~214K Type 56s had been manufactured. The rear side sling swivel (on original letter gun stocks) is consistent with an even later era of manufacture. The letter guns simply couldn’t be the first Type 56s and ended up being logically placed after the 1958 3 million series. The Type 53 Mosin carbine letter guns (same A#### style of SN) were produced in 1960 (apparently they weren’t manufactured from 1957-59), consistent with the Type 56 letter guns.
