Currently waiting on my latest acquisition (didn't really think I was going to get another one, this makes #4) from AIM. I had seen their email blast for a shipment of Type 56 SKS with spike bayonets recently and did not think their prices were insane (Up to $475 if you went highest grade plus hand select and milled trigger group select).
Got their email blast on Friday last week with a batch of 50 that did not meet their grading criteria (bluing, numbers matching, etc.) and they also stated that a lot of the stocks had "trench art" carved into the stocks. Price was $299.99
Needless to say, I could not turn down the chance at a $300.00 complete SKS. I will update once I receive it. It is on the way to my FFL, then I have to schedule for pick-up next week.
Fingers crossed....
hope you get lucky. thumb1

Ditto!
Definitely a crap shoot with these since they also said: "Most will have little finish and/or wood cracks, imperfections..."
I would have rolled the dice on 1-3 of them to see if I could have scored a 1.5 million (box cars!) ... if the 8.6% WA sales tax and shipping hadn't brought it into the $340-350 range for me.
cash flow is just dead this week for various reasons or I would have rolled the dice on 3, myself.
Picked it up today...matching numbers complete upper receiver - Factory 26 serial 11263000
Lower metal (magazine body, trigger assembly numbers matching, but not the same as the upper receiver assembly).
May have a crack in the stock by right rear of the receiver....but will know for sure when I get it all cleaned up.
No trench art, but I feel pretty good for $299.99
Sounds like a solid shooter, would love to see her when you get her all cleaned up!
Will do.....I'll get some pics post clean up....
Gotta schedule a date with a varsol tank..
Been a while since I've been on... been ridiculously busy during the COVID panic....
Did want to say this SKS turned out pretty nice in the end. In fact we recently did a C&R 2-Gun event with the group I regularly do 3-Gun with. I entered the semi-auto division and shot this SKS along with a 1911 for the event. Did pretty good, was hitting steel out to 200 yards with it and finished 4th out of 15 in semi-auto division (I lost out to an M1 carbine, an SVT-40 and an M1D Garand) but was only 5 seconds total behind the winner....
Its great to get these rifles out and compete with them when possible...love my SKS's
nice going and glad you got a good one.
