Ok, so I just picked up a SKS at a local gun club from a friend, "very reasonable" $$$ and in very nice shape. The Arsenal stamp on it is DB with the Lushun city symbol next to it. My question please is, I'm really off on dating this if I'm reading correctly. It has a very low, 5 digit serial number; 0377X But stamped on the side of the reciever is, NORINCO SKS 7.62x39 MADE IN CHINA Below that is KSI POMONA CA. Do I have a 1956/1957ish SKS? Thank you for any assistance please. Dave.
I apologize if I put this post in the wrong section, Mods please move if incorrect.
The DB rifles do not seem to conform to the serial data used to date most other Chinese SKSs.
It may be that each city had a different scheme for serialing. My DB is a real shoddy piece of construction in general...and has a 70 million serial.
Until we can determine what the DB (and DP) designation means, it may be impossible to discern what the serials denote.
For instance, my 70 portion of the serial may stand for 1970, or it has been theorized that the first three digits actually mean something altogether different, and the following digits are what the Chinese would have considered the serial.
Based on the construction of the DBs and DPs, they are likely from the very early 70s. You should post up some pics...any more information gathered regarding them may eventually lead to answers for us all. :)
Ok, Thanks for the info! I'm gonna "try" my skills here to get some pics up!
