nea1 Look up a Kremlin Guard M91/30 ::) see if you can find any legitimacy.. It's a fake hunk a crap, when a retard mixes a M44 bayonet with a M91/30.
However, there is actually a known folding bayonet for a Long Mosin rifles, it was experimental...and 900 bucks probably wouldn't touch it.

Mosin Nagant M91/30 rifle with side Folding Bayonet. Very limited quantity. Only a small number known to exist worldwide and history on this experimental version is not clear even to the most advanced Mosin collector. Samples observed are all 43 dated Izhevsk. Original factory markings on stocks. They do not appear to be refinished. Overall very good condition. VERY LIMITED QUANTITY.
Interestingly a kremlin guard thread from 08 also said it was a 43 izzy.

Of course their rare... they didn't exist till someone took bunches of parts and made them.
All usual sources point to them being an actual thing, even ratniks book. (aparently, i dont have a copy myself)

Well maybe it's nice to have a myth comfirmed... For the past years they have been fakes, as many fakes have been found.. In the below post, a fellow collector, zeebill who I respect even called them fakes.. Now this is from 2011, and you can see the general vibe towards them, none were ever authenticated as the real deal it seems.. till now.

I especially like how they are all 1943 Izhevsk's, right before (obviously) the start of m44 production. Which makes sense.
Now, how many were made, a couple of dozen for sending to various bigwigs for evaluation/ approval, or a couple of thousand for a first batch, i don't know.
What i do know is if the exchange rate was 1:1 they would have been $600 and much more in my should i/ shouldn't i range.
But it doesn't matter as they are all gone already. Food vs moar guns dilemma adverted :)

There are 1943 Izhevsk M44s in existence. M44 production actually started mid/late '43, the rifles reflect this date on the barrel shank, production has been quoted around 50k units. Now they could have been made along side each other.
Classic had a video email campaign showing off some of these a month or two ago....initially I balked at seeing them, but since he made no mention of it....I thought it might be a thing I just didn't know about. I just wonder how awkward it must look having to set your gun down...take a couple of steps and deploy an attached folding bayonet. Maybe it looked so silly in practice they opted to instead alter the M38?
I bet it's a pain in the arse to carry or deal with in a battle situation. I can see the theory, but there would be almost no practicality.... Give me the M44 thumb1
Figure the difference in weight difference in a M38 and a M44 is about a pound and a half, M38 is about 7 1/2 pounds, the M44 around 8 1/2-9 pounds(hardwood vs laminate stock).. the only weight difference between them is the added bayonet..
Figure an M44......is almost exactly dimensioned the same as an SKS.. both are 44 inches long, with about a 20 inch barrel, bayonet, even the weight is almost the same.
So lets take an 8 inch longer rifle, that weighs around 8 and 3/4 pounds on a good day and shove a pound and some change worth of bayonet on the end. So you have a 4 foot long, almost 10 pound weapon, that would feel more nose heavy than the carbines due to length.
Just think how nose heavy a Yugo M59/66 feels compared to a regular SKS, say an M59....add a couple of more inches in, lets say 6 inches in length to the M59/66 and lets add another 1/2, maybe 3/4 of a pound to the muzzle end..
It would be a very awkward bastard to shoot.
I thinks that probably why theres so few. Long rifles were about coming to the end of the line, ranges for combat were much closer than in1891, things like the ppsh were the new rage and designers were working on something to use the 1943 cartridge.
It would be interesting to see if these have any handling marks or looked like they actually were issued.
I would like to know the serial range too.
