Title: GB Listings for January, 2017 - Commercial Chinese
Post by: running-man on February 14, 2017, 02:47:51 PM
After coming within a hairs width of eliminating the Chinese Commercial GB listings entirely, I've deidecidedced to keep them going at least a few more months.  The nomenclature of various guns has changed (ie. SKS D, Type 84, etc).  I've also dropped the current condition values from 7 to 6 and eliminated Perfect.  There are plenty of Excellent condition (basically new in box) commercial guns out there.  Otherwise, this list is pretty similar to last years.

Heh, you managed to slip one past the goalie at least....

That sucks...I know the feeling. I hover over several sites even when I am broke. The ones that get away kill ya.

When you click on the link it says it was relisted, and then ended with no bids. Maybe contact the seller?

How did he do it... think1 I've tried multiple times to negate the filter, testing it of course, and he hits one out the park on the first try.      rofl2

I was surprised that it also let me quote it.

Hope you can make contact with him and fill that hole in your collection. :)

It was very difficult to get in touch with the seller, because GB does not allow you to message someone when a listing has ended. But through some detective work, I was able to find them on facebook.

However, even though this IS a first year 88 Sporter, it's not the one I'm looking for. There was a production split where they changed from the original military stock to the thumbhole in 88. I checked the database, and I show a thumbhole 88 a few hundred units before this gun. So this would have been a thumbhole stock gun.

Still ultra rare, but it's also the same thing as the 89, which I have. I want to find an 88 that originally came with the military stock.  Or, a KS-30, which was the same thing. Both super rare.

Is there any chance both stocks were available concurrently for awhile? Is there any of the printed matter showing both at the same time?

You would think a test market would be in order to see what happens when such a drastic change is made. It seems more likely than someone locating a super rare stock to put on another fairly uncommon gun....not saying that isn't possible, but still.

I suppose there isn't anyway to prove for sure either way....There isn't really any way to tell for sure is there?

612186463   Norinco SKS 16 inch barrel   27   $383.00    Paratrooper   Bubba   Uncertain
I wish I had tried a little harder for this one. I haven't been doing much with SKSs lately but I like the look of the stealth paras.
