Title: GB listings for March, 2016 - Albanian
Post by: running-man on April 02, 2016, 10:19:48 PM
A pretty decent 7 Albys changing hands this month.  Haven't seen that many in a long long time!

Lowest Sale Price: $375.00
Avg. Sale Price: $502.43
Highest Sale Price: $700.00
As-Issued Avg. Price: $479.25 $480.67

Please let me know any feedback (good or bad) to these.

If you have an objection or observation to add to anything I've listed, by all means call it out.  Let's look at it long and hard (I only look at each listing for a minute or two at most) and maybe everyone can learn a thing or two!  thumb1

546242297 (http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=546242297)   Albanian SKS 7.62 x 39 July 10th Rifle   11   $406.00    1978   As-Issued   Fair   A bit of a rough gun for my tastes, but it's a tried and true Alby.  Receiver cover number is sure off center, makes me wonder if it may have been a restamp…

546348718 (http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=546348718)   Albanian Model 56 Chinese Type SKS Rifle 1968   16   $525.00    1968   Refurbished   Good   Pretty nice example.  Interesting streaking on the right side of the buttstock.  Too bad about the replacement stock though, would be a really really nice example otherwise.

547435791 (http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=547435791)   Albanian SKS 1971, Matching #s, Soldier Stock Art   37   $520.00    1971   As-Issued   Fair   Too bad about that broken handguard rib.  The stock is a bit rough for my liking, this one of those instances for me where the trench art subtracts value instead of adding it.  Still a decent Alby.

547441928 (http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=547441928)   Albanian Model 56 SKS Rifle 1969   15   $516.00    1969   As-Issued   Good   Now that's what I'm taking about!  Very nice '69 here at a very reasonable price!

547620964 (http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=547620964)   Albanian SKS 1969, Matching #s, Soldier Stock Art   19   $375.00    1969   Refurbished   Fair   It's a true Alby, but man is it rough.  Pretty good price if someone needed to fill a hole though.  They'll get $375 back out of it easily if they sell.

548347467 (http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=548347467)   Albanian SKS Gramsh 7.62x39 Russian Yugo Norinco   13   $700.00    1968   Refurbished   Fair   The stock on this one is a replacement.  I'm failing to see why it fetched $300 more than other guns of the exact same classification this month…

548933560 (http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=548933560)   Albanian SKS 7.62 x 39 July 10th Rifle   1   $475.00    1978   As-Issued Refurbished   Fair   I hate to give this one a fair rating, but it just misses out on good I think.  Would be a fair+ if we had more detail.  Decent price for this one and all in all not a horrible gun.

If thats rough...  I'm screwed!   rofl

I dunno about restamp etc....  78s are just a bit hit/miss in the qc department.

I'm noticing that I'm grading harder and harder the older I get.  Pretty soon, it'll have to be 'Smithsonian grade' just to get a spot in one of these monthly listings!  rofl

You're probably right on the receiver cover.  It just looks like hell though.  dntknw1

This is the first CAI imported Alby that I've seen. Was that a common importer?

Noticed that Russian Rear Sight Leaf, then did a double take on the SN! I had my '69 Alby in my lap and thought, whoah, that looks familiar.

My '69 Alby:

BUT, it turned out that the other one was a '78 Alby. Thought I was seeing a close relative for a minute.  :)

Just noticed how close that Bolt Carrier was to the RSL on that '78! After looking at my Alby, I don't think the BC could hit the RSL. But it might be interesting to compare differences in RSL lengths? (Russian vs. Albanian) I've tried different angles of perspective, thinking it may just be a weird camera angle on the '78 Alby pic, but I can't duplicate the same look. ? IDK

First one I'd seen as well.  The only other I've seen are the various TG our of Knoxville, TN stamps (there are at least two of them I think.  This one was already slated to go on the List of Albanian Model 561 Importers (http://sks-files.com/index.php?topic=2108.msg24356#msg24356) page in the near future.  thumb1

Hadn't noticed that.  I'll reevaluate the list and pull that one from as-issued to refurb.  Good catch FC!

As for the RSL lengths.  I've never actually looked at it.  Makes sense that they would be a bit different but it's hard to really compare because a slight change in the rear angle where the "V" of the sight goes can have a large effect on the overall length.
