So, over the last week I've expressed interest in a clandestine (aka scrubbed mismatch) Chinese Type 56 that was restored, and a 636 SKS that both sellers have now decided they might not want to part with.
So, in the spirit of all things happen for the right reasons, and in being positive...... dance2
This is on the way...

I didn't take the pictures... but I'm sharing anyways haha.
Very nice thumb1 Looks like a good example with honest bluing wear from sweat and sandy winds :))
Looking forward to detailed photos when you receive it :)
Awesome.... Would love to havebone myself!
Yup, very nice. How common are they up in your neck of the woods? Not terribly common here in the states, but they can be found for the right price.
Make sure you check on the trigger bar extension (http://sks-files.com/index.php?topic=882.0) when you get it, they are prone to failure and aren't cheap to replace. thumb1
They show up from time to time. Not too common, but wouldn't call them rare up here. Pricing can vary wildly, from $400 to $900 depending on condition or if the seller knows/doesn't know what they have.
The seller was selling an Egyptian Hakim as well. Just as nice. Both this, and the Rasheed sold quickly.
Haven't actually seen one of these in person... so this will be a treat once it arrives.
Are these dated anywhere? Or able to be determined by serial number etc?

Yup to both. Left side of the receiver just forward of the bolt carrier will be two numbers in arabic. Top one is the date, next one down is the S/N. Your gun looks to also have the western translation of the S/N either stamped or EP'd on the flat side of the receiver. It'll be interesting to see if it's a CAI imported gun. Dates on a Rasheed will be 1966, 1967, or 1968. Hard to tell from the photo, but yours looks like a 7k S/N which puts it firmly in the late 1968 timeframe.
Perfect! That is lots to go on. Already have the Arabic number translation sheet ready to go when it gets here haha.
What a juxtaposition seeing that gun in the snow. Throw it in some sand already, where it belongs!
Excellent score on a scarce carbine.
I will pack it down to the local artificial beach at the lake house as soon as the sun comes out. I'm sure no one would mind haha.
To be fair, I have grass. Where the seller is, still snow.
I think these are badazz, but have to agree with Kevin doesn't look right in the snow ;)

Nice! thumb1
I'd like one someday too drool2
I like the looks of these also, this one is very nice! They look like a cross between an SKS and an M1 Carbine! :o
I like mine but I had to replace the recoil/carrier springs before it would run reliably.
I also thought it had been counter bored until I found out they are all that way :)
Always wondered why they did that to the bores ?
