Appears to be a matter of only a few months.

Kalashnikov Florida Factory to Pump Out AK-47s for US Sales

Kalashnikov USA is building a factory in Florida (Pompano Beach) where it will pump out new AK-47s for availability in the United States now that the company has cut ties with its parent company in Russia, reported the website ForeignPolicy.com on Thursday.

Kalashnikov USA spokeswoman Laura Burgess told ForeignPolicy.com that Kalashnikov USA plans to be up and running in the second quarter of 2016 but she did not know how many people the weapons company plans to hire at its new Florida location or how many guns it will produce.

They need to start a Simonov USA division to pump out a few new SKSs. Yeah I know, no demand for new production an old platform = no profit = never gonna happen. That said, these new American AKs will not be legal for sale in some commie states like CT (maybe NY too). SKS Ms are legal and there would be a market for those. Not a huge market but some.

I wonder how/if the recent events will affect production.
