Picked this up last night, this is my first Yugo and I have all the questions that a newbie would have.
All numbers match so far. I will break it down tonight and put the original mag back in it.
My big question would be other than a non chrome lined bore and grenade launcher "whats different"
My yugo was my first sks. Love them. Did your come with the original mag as well?
Different bayo lug, different bayo, grenade launcher sights & gas shut off. Elm wood stock (i think), non chrome lined barrel.
hmmm... & it's heavier.. lol
Think that's it.
Original mag is with it, I will post more pictures tonight after I clean it and put the mag on.
Oh yeah, the gas shut off, I need to read up on that, thanks worm!
Great rifle! looks like someone was using a suitcase strap for a sling. chuckles1
Lol, yeah and they attached it to the cleaning rod
It will be addressed tonight

You guys just don't appreciate "innovation"! ;)
It does look good however, good snag jusridin.
I only gave the guy 300 bucks for it, I'm quite pleased
Looks like a nice gun for $300!
I have both a Chinese and Yugo and have had both completely apart. Not much difference between the two other than the already mentioned grenade launcher (which means everything gas block forward is different. The stock is also much bigger and beefier. The rest of the gun looks pretty much interchangeable with a Chinese.
Gas block? Someone please explain this? Down or up?
The gas block is the portion of gas system that receives gas from the port drilled into the barrel. The yugo m59/66 is special in that it's the only (well not only, I guess NKs have a selector lever too) model where there is a selector switch (gas cutoff) to allow semi auto or single shot (grenade launcher) operation. When the knob is straight up, the gas system is turned off and the grenade sight ladder can be raised into position. When the knob is to the side, it locks the grenade ladder in place and allows for standard semi auto operation.
Oftentimes, the valve in the gas selector will become pitted due to the corrosive nature of Yugo M67 ammo. If enough gas leaks around a corroded valve, the rifle will have cycling issues. This is pretty common with these rifles. There are quick and dirty fixes to get a rifle to cycle when there are issues (paper clip trick), but often the valve needs to be replaced for reliable operation.
Ripped her apart this morning, the gas shutoff is immaculate....

Hey, by the way, it's got flip up night sights, 99.997% of the time they don't work due to age thumb1 chuckles1
Thanks for putting the factory style magazine back thumb1, that phallic looking other thing caused me some heart burn rofl
Good looking Yugoslavian you got. :)
Thanks for the heads up grease monkey, and you are correct in this case also, no workie....
Taking her to the range today
Looks to me like his night-sights are the little Tritrium vials..... not the painted Phosphor. His rifle will be from 1986-1989 letter prefix Z,A,B, or C. If its a C... he hit the lotto as only 1300 made the last year.

What's the letter prefix on the receiver serial?
Naw, those are phosphor night sites. That's an "O" block rifle most likely….
Still it's a nice one! thumb1

Still, took her out today and danced with her, for a big girl she handled herself very well
Yeah welp... those sire dont look like the painted phosphorus sights to me. Perhaps the rifle received an upgrade?

Best pictures I could get
They aren't painted, they look like little tubes
Definitely don't look painted to me 8)
Nice gun... looks like a 78?
Like I thought.... Tritium sights. Either it had been upgraded by the Yugoslavians, or the dating of when they had them is incorrect.
Do the Yugo's have any refurb marks I can look for? She is really clean, Its my first Yugo so I'm not very fluent in Yugo yet
I stand correct, definitely tritium sights there. You got good eyes there Mr C! I blame old age & poor eyesight chuckles1
You know, it wouldn't surprise me if the official data isn't correct in places, but that's a huge change from O block all the way to Z. I never had the pleasure to talk with withergyld, but he seemed like a meticulous guy. Yugos definitely aren't my strongpoint.
ridin, refurb mark is thought to be a "TRZ" on the right side (opposite side as the S/N) on the stock:
Yugo mausers have a 1.TRZ on their stocks indicating the refurb facility.

Ok, on one of my Yugo Mausers, it has a plain TRZ, stamp, my M59, shown below has a 1.TRZ.

Man RM is battin 0.000 in this thread! bat1
Any idea what that "1." is for Carl? I thought I had seen it on Yugo SKSs, but I wasn't 100% certain and didn't want to make a horse's ass of myself (I know, too late). I do 100% know it's on certain Mausers, my 24/47 sports one! think1
I've never seen a Yugo. I would like to fondle one for a few minutes though, they seem interesting.

I don't see any other marks on the stock other than the matching number
jusridin I noticed it has a different sling swivel than the Chinese SKS, is that the normal type?

I got nothin :o, it was one of those things I never thought about till I read what you wrote. Different level of refurb, or different line at the facility??
I don't believe to have ever seen the TRZ on a 59/66...... always on the m59

My yugo has the same as my Chinese. I don't see a swivel like that on the yooperj site either. Not sure.
The swivel is different, I'm sure its not the stock one.
OMG, it's, it's tacticool stuff :o Made by Crapco. chuckles1 rofl

Thanks again grease monkey!
Nice rifle, my first is also an "O". I think your metal might be in better shape than mine, which has gotten pretty silvery on the g/l, receiver cover and most edges. Burton's Bible shows one near in serial to yours, 5776xx as having tritium sights. Mine is a little later, 613xxx and has phosphor.
You may find stamps, a boxed 1 or boxed 2. I think maybe these are refurb marks but not certain. Mine has boxed 1.
If he's still doing it, and pretty sure he is, there's a dude that sells replacement tritium vials with a selection of colors, can't recall price but I think 35-40 $ a throw. I can post a link if anybody wants to know more.
