Title: L1A1 muzzlebrake with Bayonet and scabbard
Post by: tracker1 on August 25, 2015, 08:23:14 PM
Took way to long to complete but it is almost finished.  all that is left is the shell deflector.  Maybe next week ill be able to get to that parts box and finish her. it started out from a bunch of leftover non-matching parts.

Cool to see that L1A1 muzzle brake on an SKS and Bayo to boot  thumb1

Sorry if a lil off topic but I read some where that the L1A1 Brake would thread on a Yugo 59/66 w/o modification once the GL was removed, Any1 know if this is true or tried?

Welcome Tracker  thumb1

I just read that there were FALs with 9/16x24 both left and right, and also in 14mm left and right.   :-\

Pretty sure the yugo is 14mm left

Here maybe this will work :o, tame that recoil deaden the flash   fart1

MFI HK G28 DMR STYLE MUZZLE BRAKE 3.875" LONG IN 14mm X 1.0 Pitch LEFT HAND (http://mfiap.com/i-18055205-mfi-hk-g28-dmr-style-muzzle-brake-3-875-long-in-14mm-x-1-0-pitch-left-hand.html)

Oh, it's just so loooong..  For those lucky enough, they gotta right handed one as well, I mean, right hand threaded brake, the same size. ROFL

OK I think I found out why looking this 1 up has been a bit odd...

Apparently FALs are 14 mm left hand but L1A1's are built to british specs and are "inch pattern" and are 9/16"RH but will fit on the YUGO which is 14mm RH.

Been wading through quite a bit but the 1 thing that made the most sense was done buy GreatGuns. Maybe he'll chime in, seems he's done a few personaly.

Both FALs  and L1A1s are 9/16"-24 the FALs are LH and the L1A1s are RH. The M59/66 are M14-1 RH which is so close to 9/16"-24 that yes you can thread them on. I did this on one of my many custom jobs back in 2008. Took me a while to find the pics but here they are.
Chinese Paratrooper with FSB removed, Yugo M59/66 FSB modified and installed, then barrel threaded 9/16"-24 RH for the L1A1 FH purchased used from Numrich's for $9 and change + shipping. First run tapco stock and mag with a Combat Exchange HG.

Very nice! Looks like a Keng's (or an AAI) PU sniper model (I have one as well). Nice use of the platform, and great looking mods!

Here is the website for Choate. Welcome to Choate Machine and Tool - Your Premier Source for Tactical Stocks and Accessories for Rifles, Shotguns and Submachine Guns (http://www.riflestock.com/choate_products.html)

Pull the number and call them. They will probably sell you just the cheek piece.
